William Wirtz of the Arkansas Travelers was one tough customer on the hill today. He blanked the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx 4-0 on 3 hits, registering 7 strikeouts and no walks.
"When he's on, he's tough to hit," said the West Tenn manager after the game. "He's just a bulldog out there."
In 20 starts this season Wirtz has gathered 13 wins while suffering 5 losses. He has pitched 157.2 innings, allowed 129 hits, struck out 144 and has a 2.63 ERA.

William Wirtz of the Arkansas Travelers was lights out in a 5-hit whitewash of the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx.
He told SION reporters, "I had my good stuff and it went where I wanted it to go."
He registered 5 strikeouts and 1 walk in shutting out West Tenn 11-0.
This year Wirtz has compiled a 8-4 mark with a 2.37 ERA in 13 starts.

"He's mixing his pitches real well and keeping his composure on the mound," the West Tenn manager said. "When Agar does that, good things happen."
These comments came after Elmer Agar and the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx shut out the Midland RockHounds 5-0.
He had 2 strikeouts, 2 walks and allowed 4 hits.
This year Agar has compiled a 3-1 mark with a 3.18 ERA in 3 starts.
