Jorge Amalla dazzled opponents on his way to the Florida State League Pitcher of the Month award for July.
Posting a 4-1 record and a 3.00 ERA, the Daytona Cubs starter held opposing hitters to a .225 batting average while striking out 17 in 48 innings and giving up 20 walks.
This season Amalla has compiled a 13-8 mark with a 3.09 ERA in 26 starts.

| Monday, July 15th, 2024: Amalla Bewilders Hillcats
Jorge Amalla of the Daytona Cubs whitewashed the Lynchburg Hillcats 3-0 in a complete game win, limiting them to 3 hits while chalking up 3 strikeouts and giving up 2 walks.
"Talking to SION writers after the game, his manager said, "He's got the makeup. He's not afraid to challenge guys. Jorge is pretty poised out there. He knows how to pitch and how to use his stuff."
This season Amalla has a 11-7 record with a 2.78 ERA in 23 starts.

| Saturday, July 13th, 2024: Brown Batters Lynchburg Big Time!
Garth Brown exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Daytona Ballpark. The Daytona second baseman had a field day in the 13-4 triumph over the Lynchburg Hillcats, finishing up with a 5-6 day and a spot in the league record book.
"My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus just to see the ball and try to get a good pitch."
Well, Brown must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat.
G. Brown flied out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and doubled in the 9th.
This year Brown has hit at a .282 pace and produced 22 RBIs, no home runs and scored 50 runs.
