Saberhagen had won his last 8 starts but allowed 6 earned runs on 11 hits in this one to fall to 9-3. Babe Ruth started things off for the Swats with a 3-run homer in the 1st inning, and the New York offense never looked back, topping Detroit 7-1. After the Boston Splinters lost to send the Rockets to the World Series, Detroit has lost 2 straight, giving St. Louis home-field advantage in the postseason.
