The Detroit Rockets got back on the winning track in preparation for the World Series, topping the New York Swats 11-8 after losing the first two games of the series. New York’s Walter Johnson lasted just 4 innings, allowing 10 runs. Only 6 of those runs were earned, thanks to errors by Yogi Berra and Eddie Collins. Detroit batted around in the 4th. \u00c1lex Rodr\u00edguez led the Detroit offense, going 3 for 4 with 4 RBI. Just two days after a 2-homer game, Rodr\u00edguez became the first player this season to hit 3 home runs in a game. All were solo shots. He now leads the American League with 16. New York did not go quietly, as they also batted around in the 6th inning, scoring 8 runs total against Frank Tanana. 6 of those runs came in the 6th. Harry Heilmann, Berra, and Paul Molitor all had 4 hits for the Swats. Charlie Blackwell was 4 for 4 for the Rockets. Dan Quisenberry pitched two shaky but scoreless innings, and Tom Henke pitched a perfect 9th for his 15th save. The teams will finish the season tomorrow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
