Unfortunately for the Orioles, that was enough for the Sox, who held on to win the 1st game of the Elimination Series 5-4. An RBI double in the 3rd by Jerry McNertney was the 1st run for the White Sox. The next inning, Pete Ward hit a 2-run home run after Floyd Robinson walked earlier in the inning. Chicago starter Gary Peters loaded the bases with no outs in the 5th, and walked in a run before a 2-run single by Frank Robinson tied the game. Floyd Robinson responded in the 6th with a 2-run homer. A solo shot by Frank Robinson got Baltimore within a run, but Hoyt Wilhelm held them scoreless in the 9th. It was the 4th straight win for Chicago. Frank Robinson finished 3 for 4 with 3 RBI.

’64 White Sox @ ’69 Orioles – 9/22/25

Baltimore’s Mike Cuellar held the 1964 Chicago White Sox to 5 hits, striking out 8 in a complete game.
