The Chicago Docs did something that no other team has been able to do this year: beat Steve Carlton. Barry Bonds hit a 2-run triple in the 3rd, but it was in the 5th that Chicago broke things open. The first five Chicago hitters reached base, and they batted around, scoring 6 runs. Keith Hernandez has been on fire lately. He went 3 for 5 with his 1st homer and 3 RBI. He’s hitting .417 this season. Meanwhile, Chicago starter Curt Schilling allowed just 2 runs on 4 hits and struck out 6 to pick up his 2nd win this season. Carlton had pitched two straight shutouts before this start and hadn’t allowed more than 2 runs in any of his 4 starts. The 10-3 win was Chicago’s 1st against the St. Louis Wizards this season. St. Louis is still 15-3, while Chicago improved to 7-11. They’ve now won 3 straight.
