Jacks End Losing Streak with Big 8th Inning

The Oakland Jacks ended a 5-game losing streak, holding on to top the New York Swats 12-7 today. Oakland got to Pedro Martínez early, scoring 3 runs in the 1st inning thanks in part to Josh Gibson’s first home run of the season. New York fought back with 4 runs in the 3rd off Addie Joss, helped by a Lou Boudreau error. The teams traded leads until the 8th. That’s when the Jacks batted around and scored 5 runs against reliever Bullet Rogan. Jimmie Foxx bases-clearing double was one of 6 straight base hits. Joss allowed 4 earned runs on 14 hits, but still picked up the win. It was the 2nd loss for Martínez. Boudreau redeemed himself at the plate, going 4 for 6 with a double, and driving in 2 runs. Both teams are now 8-13.
