Boston Splinters Rockets, Improves to 5-2

Detroit Rockets pitcher Bret Saberhagen looked sharp in his 2nd start, cruising into the 5th inning when Boston’s Rickey Henderson and Carlton Fisk hit 3-run homers in back-to-back innings. That gave the Splinters a lead that they wouldn’t lose. Tony Oliva hit a grand slam off relieve Urban Shocker to put the game further out of reach, as Boston won it 13-4 and improved to 5-2. Dick Allen and Charlie Blackwell had solo home runs for Detroit in the losing effort. Catfish Hunter allowed 4 earned runs in 7 innings to pick up his 1st win of the season.
