Gibson Tops Docs, Hoots Win 3rd Straight

Bob Gibson scattered 7 hits, allowing 3 runs in 8 innings as the Houston Hoots topped the Chicago Docs 7-3, for their 3rd straight win. Richie Ashburn broke the game open in the 4th with a bases-clearing 3-run double. He finished 2 for 4. Teammate Hank Aaron was 3 for 4. Chicago’s Jerry Koosman allowed 6 runs and 10 hits in his 8th loss. Albert Pujols, who joined the Docs mid-season, has quietly been one of the best hitters in the league. He went 4 for 5 to raise his average to .358 in the losing effort. Houston improved to 24-26.
