Maddux, Mize, & Mathews End Dynamos Skid

Greg Maddux scattered 6 hits over 7 innings, allowing just 3 runs to the St. Louis Wizards, and Johnny Mize and Eddie Mathews hit homers off Robin Roberts to snap LA’s 8-game losing streak and keep the race for home-field advantage in the World Series close. Maddux improved to 2-3 on the season after Trevor Hoffman and Goose Gossage pitched perfect 8th and 9th innings to win it 5-3. LA took a 3-1 lead in the 3rd with a 2-run homer by Mize and a solo shot from Mathews two batters later. Roberts has lost 6 straight decisions dating back to April 21st. It was a much-needed win for the Dynamos, who are back at .500 with a 25-25 record. It also cut the St. Louis Wizards’ lead for home-field advantage in the World Series to just 2 games with 4 left to play.
