The Los Angeles Dynamos and Houston Hoots traded home runs. LA came out on top, holding on for a 6-5 win. Houston starter Randy Johnson allowed a 2-run homer to Johnny Bench in the 2nd. Houston responded with a 3-run shot from Hank Aaron against Tom Glavine in the 3rd. Gary Carter added a solo homer to put them up 4-2. But Mike Schmidt misplayed a ball with 2-outs in the 6th to load the bases, and Jackie Robinson hit a grand slam to give the Dynamos a 6-4 lead. The Hoots would add another run to cut the lead, but Jim Bunning pitched a scoreless 8th, and Goose Gossage pitched a scoreless 9th for his 12th save. Johnson finishes the season 5-3 with a 5.38.
