Docs Hold On For 1st Wrigley Home Win
Curt Schilling allowed a 2-run homer to the Los Angeles Dynamos’ Eddie Mathews in the 6th to blow a 3-1 lead, but Jeff Kent hit a homerun in the bottom of the inning to take the lead back. Chicago’s Kent Tekulve and Billy Wagner pitched a scoreless 8th and 9th to give the Docs the 5-4 win. It was their first home win at Wrigley Field. Schilling and Dynamos starter Don Drysdale both pitched out of jams throughout the game. Willie Mays was a triple shy of the cycle in the losing effort. Both teams are now 4-4.
