Reggie Jackson has had a season he’d rather forget. He’s hitting below .200 and hasn’t put up the offensive numbers that the Oakland Jacks had hoped for. But today was a bright spot as Mr. October went 2 for 3 with 2 homers and 5 RBI to lead the Jacks in a 9-4 win over the league-leading Detroit Rockets. Jackson capped a 4-run 4th inning with a 3-run homer off Detroit starter David Cone. He hit another in the 8th, a 2-run shot off Urban Shocker. Oakland starter Jack Morris allowed 3 runs in 7 innings while striking out 6 to earn his 1st win of the season. Oakland is now 17-22, while the loss drops Detroit to 23-17. They still lead the Splinters by 1 1/2 games in the American League.
