Monday, September 30th, 2024: Reds *Burkett* Hits .400
Coaches tell ballplayers that the best hitters make an out 7 times out of 10. That's 3 base hits per 10 at-bats. To average 4 base hits per 10 at-bats, well, that only happens for the best of the best -- the .400 hitters.

Cincinnati left fielder Jesse *Burkett* certainly qualifies as one of the best. He hit an astronomical .400 this season.

"He's the best pure hitter I've ever seen," his manager said. "And I've been around some great players."

His numbers this year also included 39 doubles, 7 triples and 7 home runs. The newest member of baseball's .400 Club also scored 116 times and batted in 55 runs.
Monday, September 16th, 2024: Super Swinger Snags NL Player of the Week
Cincinnati fans have something to crow about today as Cincinnati first baseman Matthew Champ nabbed the National League Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days.

"I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Champ.

He posted a .520 average (13-25) this past week with 1 home run, 5 RBIs, and 6 runs scored.

This season Champ has banged out 170 hits in 498 at-bats for a .341 average with 22 home runs. He is getting on base at a .388 pace and his totals also include 88 RBIs and 97 runs scored.
Monday, September 9th, 2024: NL Honors Cincinnati Left Fielder
According to the voters, Jesse *Burkett* of the Cincinnati Reds had the best week of all National League hitters as he was named this week's Player of the Week.

The left fielder's accomplishments include 20 hits in 27 at-bats, a .741 batting average, no home runs, 3 RBIs and 7 runs scored.

In 117 games this year *Burkett* has posted a .400 average and put up these numbers: 7 home runs, 48 RBIs and 103 runs scored.
