Ricardo Ormeno of the Pittsburgh Pirates had a big week with the bat and today was voted the Player of the Week by the National League.
For the week Ormeno batted .600 (12-20) with 2 home runs and 12 RBIs.
Thus far this season Ormeno is hitting .366 with 50 home runs, 176 RBIs and 108 runs scored. He has 229 hits in 626 at-bats and has played in 150 games.

It's a long season, and everyone picks up some cuts and bruises along the way. The latest star to be suffering this year is Barry *Bonds* of the Pittsburgh Pirates, who suffered a tender shoulder while throwing the ball in yesterday's contest against St. Louis. While he could play through the injury, it's unclear whether or not the Pittsburgh organization will risk that or simply sit him out for the one week the injury is expected to last.
*Bonds* is batting .293 in 2024 with 27 home runs, 90 RBIs and 113 runs scored. He has 152 hits in 518 at-bats.

 | Friday, September 13th, 2024: Principato on Fire, 5-5 Against Pittsburgh
William Principato exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Caray Field. The Chicago (N) shortstop had a field day in the 6-3 triumph over the Pittsburgh Pirates, finishing up with a 5-5 day and a spot in the league record book.
"My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus just to see the ball and try to get a good pitch."
Well, Principato must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat.
W. Principato singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.
Currently Principato has 16 home runs and a .281 batting average.
